Yemen – Follow-ups
The political arena is witnessing an escalation of tensions between Israel and the United States amid Turkey’s request to send soldiers to the International Stabilization Force in the Gaza Strip, in light of a US tendency to support this request, which has led to a new dispute between the two sides over the issue of Turkish presence in the Gaza Strip.
Hebrew Channel political correspondent Guy Azriel reported on Wednesday evening, December 10, 2025, that the direct confrontation is taking place against the backdrop of Turkey’s request to send its forces to Gaza, indicating that these disputes have turned into the first serious confrontation with Washington.
A senior Israeli official confirmed in an interview with i24NEWS that “the foot of a Turkish soldier will not set foot in Gaza”, emphasizing that this issue is considered very sensitive for Israel, given the history of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his relations with senior Hamas officials, in addition to the impact this will have on its image in an election year.
Israeli sources report that Tel Aviv has conveyed strong messages in this regard to US envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner and President Donald Trump in recent days, after Ankara announced the completion of its preparations to send its forces to the Gaza Strip.
In the same context, reference was made to the role played by Turkey in the first phase of the Gaza agreement and its role in pushing Hamas to return the detainees.
For his part, the American Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, confirmed the news, referring to the imminent announcement of the creation of a “peace council” by President Trump, which means that Israel will continue to insist on this issue until the last minute.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to raise the issue during his next meeting with US President Donald Trump at the end of the month, if a solution is not found before then.
i24NEWS also cites a US source as saying that “many exciting announcements” will be made in the coming weeks, explaining that the International Stabilization Force (ISF) will be a multinational force operating under the supervision of the Peace Council, and that the US is studying needs and working to determine frameworks for cooperation with countries capable of supporting and implementing the twenty-point plan.
